When we went out looking for people who wanted to test our roof tent this summer, we received over 300 applications! It has not been easy to choose the winners but now it has been done and soon you will be able to follow their travels with roof tents in Sweden, Norway and Denmark on our Instagram account .
All three winners will try roof tents for the first time and share their experiences, adventures and maybe the occasional mishap. In other words, there will be lots of inspiration on our Instagram account! Here you can read more about the winners and when you can follow them:
Tina Persson with daughter Emmy
When: 27 June to 2 July
Tina, 40 years old – a not very handy mother and a patient daughter (Emmy 9 years old) who is quite used to mishaps.
Itinerary: Passportless as we are, we will stay in the Nordics. But with a twist, because we want to do a point-and-ride trip. We go at the end of June and equip ourselves with a map. Chance may rule our route.
Expectations for the roof tent trip: Expectations for the adventure are high. We love to take road trips, but think that with the accommodation on the roof we can end up anywhere and still have a good time.
Previous camping experience: Caravan with varying success and tents on the ground that have been cold, wet, too hot...we are more hotel inclined, if we do say so ourselves.
The Backa family – Camilla, David, Carla and Alba
When: 4 July – 13 July and 29 July - 4 August
Itinerary: We plan to go to Norway via Åre and then go through Romsdalen, Geiranger and Jotunheimen, then continue down to Denmark and visit M øn and Skagen. After that we make our way back up to Östersund via Sweden.
Expectations for the roof tent trip:
We think it will be a great experience! Partly by nature and everything we will be involved in, but above all by roof tenting. We look forward to being able to stay for a while wherever we want and that it will be much easier than with a normal tent.
We think this will make it easier for us to get out and camp with the kids! We have had a few tent nights together with our eldest daughter, but something we didn't appreciate then is all the work that comes with carrying around/putting up and down tents. Many times it has also meant poorer sleep quality due to damp ground and poorer bedding. That's why we believe that roof tents are cut and cut for us!
Previous camping experience:
We have both lived in tents a lot before, from when we were children to adulthood, mainly on mountain hikes and holidays. As a child, it was also cozy to just camp out in the garden! We have traveled a lot by car in the Alps, Sweden and Norway, but then also lived in cabins, which is comfortable, but less adventurous. You often then also need to be out in good time with a reservation to even have a chance of getting a seat. Now it feels so fantastic that we can decide where we want to live more spontaneously!
Kajsa Gustavsson and Fredrik Mitander
We who are going to roof tent are called Fredrik and Kajsa and are 32 and 29 years old respectively. Fredrik is from Värmland and works as a craftsman and Kajsa is from Småland and works as a soldier.
When: July 14 – July 28
Itinerary: Our plan for the summer is to go up to Lofoten and stop at places we see along the way that look nice, very spontaneous and easy! From Lofoten we move on towards Tromsø if the days have not passed too quickly and then further down into Sweden again. The idea is to go on some day trips to nice peaks and maybe a two or three day trip if we find a nice route.
Previous camping experience: We are used to hikers and campers as we both grew up with a great interest in forests and nature. We have both hiked a lot in the Swedish mountains but also in Norway and the Alps. We have also done a lot of camping in tents in different ways, but never in roof tents, so this will be incredibly fun to try!
Expectations for the roof tent trip:
We have chosen not to plan the trip in too much detail precisely because we want to be able to take advantage of the freedom of having a roof tent, so everything will be very spontaneous. We will try to simply let nature guide us, which we think fits very well in combination with roof camping!
