Before one's first roof tent trip, many questions and concerns usually arise; will we find somewhere to stand, will we manage to fold up the roof tent and (if you are parents of small children) will the children even be able to sleep in the tent??

Stockholmers Joseph Eriksson and Emma Gullström love being out in nature and opened their eyes to roof tents in the spring of 2021. As new car owners and parents of small children hungry for adventure, the freedom and simplicity of roof tents attracted them.

Their first trip with a roof tent was to the areas around Motala and Vättern where Joseph's parents live - safe in case something went wrong and that way they could also collect good tips from the family for places to stand plus they had

Before the trip, they also checked a lot on Google Maps to find places themselves that seemed good for roof tents, as well as read up on our beginner's guide for roof tents .

The big hope before they set off was that daughter Billie would sleep well in the tent so they could hang out with a glass of wine and watch sunsets. In the video above you can see how it went.
