For a long time, we have been working hard to develop two hard shell tents of the best possible quality. Now we can finally tell you what is coming! Let us introduce our new roof tents – Blåsten and Totthummeln.

February 29, 2024

The Roof Tent Makers' new hard shell models are developed to withstand really tough adventures and can be set up super fast.

These are roof tents for those who prioritize quick setup (your camp is ready in less than a minute) and a more streamlined silhouette on the car roof.

Focus on Quality and Details

Just like when we designed and developed our soft shell tents, nothing has been left to chance – the aim is set on absolute highest quality and best functionality.

Like our other roof tent models, the names of the new hard shell tents are taken from different peaks on Åreskutan, the mountain where we live and operate.

Common Features of the New Hard Shell Tents

Both Blåsten and Totthummeln have dark gray tent fabric, black window fabric, and a durable and sturdy black aluminum shell; equipped with a 20 mm rubber seal between the bottom and top for 100% waterproofing.

Folded on the roof, the hard shell tents only build 18 cm in height.

Two Different Widths to Choose From

Blåsten and Totthummeln come in two sizes – 120 centimeters or 136 centimeters wide mattress – and are suitable for those who like to adventure and travel alone or together with your partner/friend/four-legged companion.

The roof tents are easily set up in just a few seconds with the help of hydraulic gas struts. You climb up into the tent on a black telescopic ladder and can leave your shoes in the included shoe bags.

Anti-Condensation Mattress and LED Strip Included

Inside the tents, there are large storage pockets for your belongings as well as an included LED light strip that you can easily use with, for example, a power bank.

The sleeping mattress is 5 centimeters thick and of the highest quality, which means you will sleep very well and not feel the bottom plate.

At the bottom, we have also included an anti-condensation mattress (1 cm thick). The inner roofs are lined with cotton fabric that dampens sound and prevents condensation.

Roof racks and awnings will be available for purchase as accessories.

The Roof Tent Blåsten

The roof tent Blåsten (pronounced Blå-sten) is named after the peak with Åreskutan's steepest slope below it and is a so-called clamshell/wedge model that raises at one end.

We have also chosen to raise the foot end slightly so that even you who are taller can sleep comfortably.

To keep you dry when you go up and down from the roof tent, we have developed an extra large window fabric that is set up with included window poles. If you want even better views, the window fabric can easily be rolled up and attached above the roof tent openings.

With Blåsten, you can choose to enter the roof tent either from the sides of the car or the rear end.

With Blåsten's hard aluminum shell positioned against the wind, you have a roof tent that stands firmly and protects you against all conceivable weather.

The Roof Tent Totthummeln

Our roof tent Totthummeln is named after the flat top, also a popular excursion destination, that rises in the foreground as you approach Åre.

Totthummeln is a classic pop-up model roof tent. It is unfolded by lifting both short ends and takes the shape of a box within seconds. The entrance can be placed on both long sides of the roof tent.

For the view lover, we have equipped Totthummeln with extra long windows on both long sides. Window covers protect against both rain and sun or can be rolled up and fastened above the openings to maximize the view. Extra ventilation openings are included on both long sides.

The inside is spacious, the height inside the entire roof tent is 85 centimeters which gives you space at the foot end for storage or maybe your dog!
