Meet Emilia Hylander – hunting profile and roof tent camper
Published: February, 2025
25-year-old Emilia Hylander is a Swedish hunting profile who practically grew up with a rifle in her hand and mud on her boots. With an incurable love for forest and land, she spends every free moment hunting for the next adventure – or the next game!
Since she spends a lot of time outdoors and enjoys camping, she discovered roof tents and the possibilities they offer a few years ago.
– The best thing, I think, is the freedom to be able to set up in so many places that wouldn’t work with, for example, a regular tent or caravan. You always have a flat surface and can wake up to fantastic views, says Emilia Hylander.
The roof tent makes it possible for her to be spontaneous, whether she just wants to get out for a couple of nights to sleep outdoors or to discover new places that have that little extra.
Explorations both in the north and south
Emilia got a roof tent in 2023 and has since used it frequently, both in the local area at home in Småland and for a road trip down to southern Europe. A trip that gave her the opportunity to experience several countries and environments up close. But her favorite place so far is located at more northern latitudes.
– Last year I was in Lofoten, and it was absolutely fantastic," she says.
– The view you wake up to there is unbeatable, as are the evenings with the midnight sun. It’s hard to describe how magical it is.
The Roof Tentters x Emilia Hylander
Emilia Hylander is a hunting profile from Ulricehamn who inspires hunting and outdoor life, among other things on her Instagram account. We at Roof Tentters are impressed by both her knowledge and energy and are happy to support a young woman active in an otherwise quite male-dominated interest.
Emilia has our roof tent Åreskutan.
The Perfect Roof Tent Day
An ideal roof tent day for Emilia starts with waking up to a fantastic view and enjoying a delicious breakfast.
After hiking around a nice trail during the day, she finishes with a lovely dinner and card games up in the roof tent among the string lights.
For Emilia, roof tenting is about being close to nature, both day and night, and getting a chance to truly relax.
Best Roof Tent Tips for Beginners
Does she have any tips for those facing their first roof tent adventure?
– Yes! My best tip, which I did myself, was to watch the Roof Tentters YouTube video that shows how to set up and take down the roof tent before you go out. And to test everything once at home in peace and quiet before you head out on your first adventure.
When it comes to gear, Emilia suggests the following:
– A couple of comfy camping chairs, a handy gas stove, string lights, and last but not least a Thermacell to keep the mosquitoes away.
Handling Challenges Along the Way
She says she hasn’t encountered any major challenges with roof tent life (yet).
– That would probably be the heatwave we had during a trip to Croatia last summer, when the temperature was around 40 degrees. But by buying a small battery-powered fan, that was easily solved!
Looking ahead, Emilia Hylander looks forward to discovering more places with her roof tent. The High Coast with its unique nature is high on the list.
