Here are a few reasons why we think it's great to tent on the roof in the fall.
1. You are guaranteed to be alone
During the summer, especially in densely populated areas, it can be difficult to find such a dreamy roof tent spot out in nature. In autumn, there are not nearly as many people out and you will therefore be able to pick and choose between places and enjoy the silence.
🧊 2. Crisp autumn air
The nights are cool, fresh and often starry. The crisp hay air will make it extra lovely to crawl into the winter sleeping bag and make you sleep extra well.
🦟 3. Minimal Insects
One of the biggest reasons for roof tenting in the fall is the fact that the pest infestation is reduced. You avoid mosquitoes, brakes and other annoying insects.
🔥 4. The fire warms extra nicely
Sitting and warming yourself by a fire and drinking hot coffee becomes even cozier when the temperature drops.
⭐️ 6. Starry Nights
Autumn offers some of the most starry nights of the year. When the sun has set, you can look up at a clear sky and count the stars. It is a fantastic experience to open the sunroof of your roof tent and see the stars twinkling.
Good to think about when you go roof tenting in the fall
The temperature often drops significantly in the evenings, make sure you have a sleeping bag adapted to the outside temperature and plenty of wood with you to be able to make a proper fire!
With an inner tent for your roof tent, you raise the temperature inside the tent significantly while it catches the condensation that often occurs when it's colder outside. For even more heat, you can use any kind of heat source that is approved to be inside a tent, for example Mr Heater or a normal heating fan from Biltema.
Feel free to wear a hat when you sleep.
Rain and damp air are of course common during autumn. Remember that you need to be able to set up the roof tent and dry it when you get home.
